One Mile Garden

Robin Hewlett, Bob Bingham, and Ally Reeves are creating a proposal following an invitation to be artists in residence at the Coleman Center for the Arts in York, AL.

 

One Mile Meal

One Mile Meal is an ongoing project intended to awaken participates to local abundance and the potential of under appreciated food resources. Following a twelve hour marathon of gathering edible, wild plants, speaking with local gardeners, and cooking with participates, Robin Hewlett and Ally Reeves sit down to have conversations about where and how we put meals on the table.

 

 

Local Collectors

Local Collectors is an effort to bring local collections into a museum space, honoring the time,insight, and accomplishments of atypical collections that fall below the radar of established museums.

 

The Mobile Museum

The Mobile Museum is human powered, bicycle transported, and open content: perhaps one of the only physical museums in existance that boasts this combination. The Mobile Museum generates new insights, possibilities, and appreciation for individual interpretation of information via visual forms.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Temporary Museums

Temporary Museums are generated from wandering and gathering in a unfamilar territory. The creation of a small display born from a slow and meandering walk yields objects which serve as tools for memeory and understanding of a place and the individual traveling through it.

 

 

 

Food and Culture

 

Robot 250

Ally Reeves is in Phase I of the construction of the Look-See Tree "Big-bot", part of Pittsburgh's Robot themed 250th celebration, dubbed "Robot 250". Reeves' portable kenetic sculpture takes the form of a tree on wheels transported via electrical bike.

 

Pedal Postal Express

The Pittsburgh Pedal Express or PPE is a bike by mail project created by John Pena and Ally Reeves. The PPE is an effort to act not only as mail carriers, but to emphasize the effort put into creating a connection (in this case a letter) between two idividuals.

 

 

Stormy Weather

Stormy Weather is a hand-cranked portable mini-theatre intended to function as a device for busking in city spaces. Passers-by are invited to peek through an opening in the front and watch a small tornado pass though a tiny city. Stormy Weather is an experiement in creating an alternative economic model for a fine artist to explore an economic niche.

 

 

 

 

 

Runaway Kits

A series of 2-D objects displyed in suitcases of various sizes, the Runaway Kits serve as an exploration of idealized place, and how we culturally use objects to symbolize an ability to reconfigure identity.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Comics

Ally Reeves's comic work is little known, but born from a rich influence of artists such as Marc Bell, Jim Woodring, Dame Darcy, Anders Nilson, Bill Waterson and the like. Reeves's comics consistantly feature a deer character exploring physical spaces as a means of exploring inner self.
